Learning Objectives: Microprocessors and microcontrollers evolution, Architecture of a selected 8-bit microprocessor (e.g. 8088 microprocessor), Assembly language and its software development tools, Data movement, arithmetic, logic, and program control instructions; Interrupt organization. The hardware of the selected microprocessor, Memory interface and address decoding, DRAM controllers, I/O interface, Programmable peripheral interface (PPI), Serial I/O interfacing and USART, Hardware interrupts, basic interrupt interface and programmable, Interrupt controller (PIC), Direct memory access.
