Writing Workshop Intermediate focuses on developing learners’
English writing skills in preparation for English-medium majors at Qatar
University. Students will analyze model essays for their structure, content, and relevant vocabulary through the learner-centric process approach to writing. Teachers facilitate lessons, tasks, and activities on paragraph, essay organization, and sentence structure to help students acquire writing skills. Throughout the course, critical thinking/entrepreneurial competencies, and independent, as well as collaborative learning arepromoted through peer-review and teacher-student conferencing activities, text-analysis, and group
work. In addition, digital platforms and resources are extensively used to
develop and assess learning. The assessments for the course are both formative (portfolio worksheets) and summative (quizzes and common exams).
